60 more families quit Sacha Sauda sect
Sangrur, May

The Sacha Sauda sect today suffered another setback in the Sunam area when around 200 dera followers (60 families) dissociated themselves from the dera at a programme at Gurdwara Pehli Patshahi, about 13 km from here.
Talking to The Tribune, former chairman of the Sunam Market Committee Pritpal Singh Handa said members of these 60 families were presented with siropas at the gurdwara as they had decided to follow the teachings of the Sikhism.
Handa said the heads of these families submitted affidavits to the local Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, stating that they express anguish over the insult meted to Guru Gobind Singh by the head of Dera Sacha Sauda.
Meanwhile, former member of the SGPC Giani Raghbir Singh Jakhepal said they had received a list of a large number of followers of the dera, who wanted to join the Sikh Panth. They would be taken into the Sikh fold at a function at Jakhepal village.
Earlier, around 60 families from Cheema Mandi, Beer Kalan village, Sheron village and Sunam town had quit the Sacha Sauda sect.
