Adequate security for deras, says DGP

Bathinda, May 23

Punjab DGP N. P. S. Aulakh said today that nobody would be allowed to disturb peace in the state and the law and order would be maintained at all costs.
Aulakh, who held a meeting with senior police officials of Faridkot and Ferozepore ranges at Bathinda and Muktsar today, said the Punjab Police was well-prepared to met any challenge.
Talking to mediapersons, he said though no demand for security had been made by the followers of the Sacha Sauda sect, paramilitary forces and the police had been deployed at the deras of the sect, providing foolproof security cover.
He said the police would consider any demand for security by any individual or organisation on merit.
Those who attended the meeting included Chander Shekhar, ADGP (law and order), M. K. Tiwari, IG (Patiala Zone), Suresh Arora, IG, V. K. Bhawra, IG (intelligence), Jatinder Jain, DIG (Faridkot range), Ishwar Chander, DIG (Ferozepore range), Nau Nihal Singh, Ram Singh, L. K. Yadav and Parmod Ban, SSPs of Bathinda, Mansa, Faridkot and Muktsar districts respectively.
The paramilitary forces would stay put in Punjab till there was absolute peace in the state, he said, adding that the forces had been directed to keep a strict vigil on the activities of anti-social elements.
