Probe sought into dera row

Convener of the People for Peace in Punjab Dr M.S. Randhawa has urged the government to appoint a judicial commission, comprising a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, to probe into the controversial episode at Salabatpura which resulted into statewide unrest.
He said it was necessary to rule out the conspiracy if any, in view of public outcry by responsible persons of the state, alleging conspiracy behind enactment of the incident of “blasphemy”, which had too many similarities to that enacted by the Nirankari sect in 1978 in Amritsar, which played havoc with peace in the state. — TNS
