Not graceful: Mediators Agnivesh to meet high priests today

The delegation of Sarva Dharam Sansad, which has mediated in the standoff between the Sikh community and Dera Sacha Sauda, today left for Amritsar to request Akal Takht to accept the “mafinama” issued by the dera yesterday.
In a statement, Swami Agnivesh, Father Dominic Emanuel, Jain Muni Lokprakash Lokesh and Maulana Jammel Ilyasi Ahmed said they discussed the apology given by the dera at a meeting today.
“Though we realise that the anxiety caused due to unnecessary and avoidable delay on behalf of the dera and the tone and tenor of the ‘mafinama’ does not seen to be graceful, in the larger interest of peace in the country and religious tolerance it becomes imperative to be magnanimous and to overlook certain shortcomings,” the statement said.
It said the religious leaders would request Akal Takht to accept the “mafinama” as tendered by the dera on behalf of its chief Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
