FATEHGARH SAHIB: The Sant Samaj and the Sikh organisation including Damdami Taksal on Tuesday rejected "aplology" by Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh for attiring like Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh master.
A meeting of Sant Samaj in which some leaders Shormani Akali Dal (Amritsar) leader Daljit Singh Bittu, Dal Khalsa's Satnam Singh Pounta Sahib also participated was held at Dera of Sant Hari Singh Randhawawale in Fatehgarh Sahib. Damdami Takhsal chief Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa presided over the meeting.
Press conference of Sant Samaj was held around two hours behind the schedule. Sources said that Sant Samaj was awaiting top Sikh clerics decision about the future course of action against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
During the course of meeting of Sant Samaj, the five high priests were holding meeting at the Akal Takht Secretariat in Golden Temple Complex in Amritsar. Sources said that after getting indications from certain quarters, the press conference of Sant Samaj was held. After the press conference, Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa in the presence of print and electronic media directed other leaders of Sant Samaj not to talk to media about today's meeting.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Khalsa informed that Sant Samaj rejected Dera Sacha Sauda chief's apology as he did not sign on apology letter. He said that Dera chief should himself apologize. He said that views of Sant Samaj held in meeting was sent to Sikh clergy through a letter but he refused to disclose the contents of letter. Sources said that Sant Samaj asked the Sikh clergy to reject the apology letter.
Khalsa said that Sant Samaj would follow the directions of the Sikh clergy. He said that they would participate in protest march from Fatehgarh Sahib to Chandigarh on May 31 in peaceful manner. He appealed the people to participate in march in maximum number in disciplined manner. He also appealed to district Fatehgarh Sahib administration to make an elaborate arrangement on May 31.
When asked if the Sikh clergy decided to withdraw decision of protest march, he said that Sant Samaj would follow their directions. Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode, former Akal Takht Jathedar, who also participated in today's meeting told this correspondent that Sant Samaj is in touch with Sikh clergy and after getting clearance of them, the Sant Samaj announced to participate in protest march.
When asked whether there is any pressure on Sikh clergy to deal with the case of Sacha Sauda, Khalsa said that Sikh clergy is supreme no one can pressurize it.
